It tripped us on the stairs, left us blinking at our bugged-out screens, and woke us up with a sense of ill-ease. We made our to-do lists and resolutions and then 3 feet of snow like wet concrete fell (both literally and metaphorically). To survive another week in the global terror caused by the reactionary rich using race, gender, and class to divide us and to violently defend the reality they've created with others' sweat, blood, and bones, the missing witch prescription is, as usual, songs of innocence and songs of experience. Risa prescribes a reminder of death, sorry but here we are again. The song on repeat - the one that's demanding some magical attention this week - is "If We Were Vampires": > It's knowing that this can't go on forever > Likely one of us will have to spend some days alone > Maybe we'll get forty years together > But one day I'll be gone > Or one day you'll be gone Make safe containers, like the length of a sad song, to sit with this unacceptable, undeniable truth and it will act on you. Let it. Feel the children - thousands murdered since the year was born - in the wind. Feel the precarity of your own frail frame, feel the inevitable loss of the one you love, turn to look for a little while at what mortality *really* means. Let the honey of this inhalation, this moment so alive, sit on your tongue. Remember what you live for. The Greek American pioneer of New Age music with the boyish smile died this week at 77 after a lifetime of listening to the music inside and sharing his vision of love, happiness, and an awakened tomorrow shining on the horizon. IASOS's musical vision is so clear. He was listening for spirit sounds, and according to some measures, he found them: > Professor Joel Funk at Plymouth State University was doing experiments on people who had near-death experiences \[in 1989\]. One thing was they all went through a tube of light, the other thing was they all were met by a loving angelic being, and they all heard heavenly music. He was curious about the heavenly music that they heard, so he played them music—jazz, pop, classical, all sorts—and asked them to rate what they heard. A lot of mothers tell me they played that music while they are having their baby, and other people say they played it to friends and relatives as they were dying. The interesting thing is that at a certain point in my career I realized I could play anything I could imagine, so I thought *‘*I want to make music that has the energy of the holy spirit in it.' ([Vice](https://www.vice.com/en/article/68z746/high-times-with-new-age-pioneer-iasos?ref=missingwitches.com)) In an interview from [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4OSn%5FRJcwl0&ref=missingwitches.com) documentary, IASOS described how his music came to him, like a radio playing inside his mind. He eventually came to understand that the music he heard or *imagined* was a direct message from an inter-dimensional being. At this point in the interview, IASOS laughs with self-awareness and says: > "I realize this is hard for you to believe, but at least I'm telling you what I believe, and you're free to handle that reality any way you like." Amy's prescription this week is to sit inside the inter-dimensional messages of IASOS's music, and meditate on belief, actuality, and your definition of an energy of holy spirit.
