Welcome to the latest edition of KILN, a multimedia online journal created by the Weavers members of the Missing Witches Coven.
In the Springtime, we took as our theme the many ways and magics of Repair.
In the Winter KILN we were Cailleach, snow queens, witches of the screaming wind.
And this Summer, we leaned into the edges of our worlds, we listened to the places it's pulling apart, to bring you to the things we hear as we attune to the new world coming.
The wind whispers to me:
Rest a little longer,
In this liminal space.
You’re safe, we’ll protect you;
Please give yourself some grace.

The Witch at the Edge of the World: Piping Plover Kin.
By Jasmin
This witch sits on the shore
I breathe deeply, eyes closed
Hearing the ocean lap at my feet
Feeling the cold water
Tasting the salt air at the edge of the world
I am piping plover kin
Surviving and thriving on the coast of the North Atlantic
I am nourished by the ocean
I am settled by the sound of her waves breaking
Comforted by the most sacred womb in the universe
She is not the end, but the beginning. Listen.
I am piping plover kin
I care for the little ones
Our community moves as one
Alert, protective, small but fierce
I will help raise the little girl who calls me stepmother
To love the edge of the world as the centre of all life, to dance and swim in her water
To call the ocean mother
And I will teach her to move and flow with the tide
To know the magic at the edge
Up, down, up, down
To and fro; a sacred, holy dance
To be brave enough to grow towards that unknown horizon
But to always know where the shore is
And I will help teach her to wonder:
What's over on the other side?
Is it the end or the beginning?
Is it another world?
And
Is there a girl like her, standing on the edge of her ocean
Wondering the same thing?
I am a witch, I am piping plover kin
I return to the same shores
I teach the little ones to feed and fly
I know the edge of the world
And I call it home.
The wind whispers to me:
Weave a new story, the words they are true.
The winds of change are blowing for you.

The edge of one world is the start of another
By D.
I've been studying ancient structures for many years and will be visiting 2 major sites in Java, Indonesia. (Gunung Padang) The largest megalithic structure in SE Asia and (Borobudur) one of the largest temples next week.
Edge of the world?
Yes, this world seems covered with ancient structures, temples, pyramids, and sacred sites that tell a story of who we truly are and what we are capable of. Even the notion of time and space being linear comes into question.
We get historical stories and most do not even know what happened to the people or beings who built them. These structures are lined up to star constellations, cardinal points, and on energetic ley lines and built with unfathomable precision incorporating sacred geometry and symbolism. Personally, I see them as consciousness portals where we can travel to different realms and commune with these, our, ancestors.
Remember that the edge of one world is the start of another.

The wind whispers to me:
We do so much thinking about pasts and about futures — find yourself on the edge by feeling into the now.

We live in 2 worlds.
By Kendal
We are PuzzlePeace Collective, a large and diverse group of beings living in the same bodymind. I am Kendal, one of many headmates. Because we are near the time of the autumnal equinox, I have been doing some reflecting on liminal spaces and how our magical practice weaves through them. We live in 2 worlds. We call them the physical or external, and the Soulscape or internal. Magic, spontaneity, and creativity are woven into the everyday between both worlds.
The way we can create aspects of our environment is a form of internal magic. While we have the power to create, so does the Soulscape. If we create something the Soulscape isn't a fan of, it may modify or move it. It is quite respectful as it has never destroyed someone else's creation, or modified something in a way the original creator wouldn't like. We can ask it to leave something alone and it always does.
We love us some internal tech magic. One way this manifests is our internal navigation system. At first, before we made our internal digital navigation system, you could go looking for a shop someone set up and hunt for hours. Now, when a building or landscape feature appears, it gets loaded into our database, so if it moves to the other side of town, you can still find it.
Another form of internal tech magic is our memory file storage bank. It holds the system's memories. We each have our own private memory files. Most body memories, or front files, are shared systemwide. It makes it far easier for us to switch while not losing the thread of what has been happening externally.
External magic is often more subtle, but no less potent. Many of us enjoy divination, usually tarot, numerology, and occasionally scrying. Vermilion brailled a deck of tarot cards in 2022 that many of us like to use. It's a standard RWS deck. Often, we will use digital card apps when we are low on spoons or traveling. Being blind, scrying becomes an interesting practice. Since we have a great big cloudy spot covering most of our visual field, we will use the shapes and distortions to answer a question we ask beforehand. We recently bought a scrying mirror, but don't use it often, as it takes far more energy to use than the blindspot. We have an altar set up, that was specifically for Vermilion, but since we have been doing workings as a system, we have decided to revamp it at some point to incorporate how more of us connect spiritually.
We all have our spiritual practices we lean toward. I gravitate toward divination, primarily tarot. I tried scrying with our blindspot, but found it made me feel a bit dizzy. I think I'll leave that to Mica and Vermilion. Vermilion is all about spiritual writing, sonic magic, and chakra work. Timo and Kyli are fascinated by astrology. Rhea and Mica do healing energy work the most. Kamdyn does ancestor work because they just started sending him messages. He says the work chose him. His closest plant ally is cannabis. Bill is our group ritual planner. Anne provides the herbs and oils for ritual. Many more of us have spiritual practices, and we leave lots of room for creativity and flexibility. Much of our work is internal. We also all work with the phases of the moon. We have several headmates that have associated themselves with the elements or deity archetypes. These headmates almost never front, but will sometimes assist whoever is in front, usually by advising them when making important decisions. They're a fairly private bunch, so that's all I can share about them for now. When we do ritual in the physical, often the fronter, or person controlling the body, sits in circle with whoever wants to participate in the Soulscape. Very often, we don't have physical tools, so use our Soulscape materials instead.
One of my favorite ways we use magic is shielding. Majority of the headmates who front have become bubble-shield masters. We also do grounding and meditation together. We're currently in the midst of a period of deep reflection and introspection which feels magical in a different way. We're doing tons of anecdotal research on what other plural systems do to thrive. Reading about other plurals' experiences has given us some insight and language that has led us to a deeper understanding of how we operate. We're planning to rearrange how we live to match our needs, and not capitalism's. That on its own is a radical magical act.
The wind whispers to me:
Take the time to play, dance, and sing. Enjoy the little moments in this life.

Witches at the Edge of the World
by Raveena Wilde
It's at the edge we wait
We stop and breath
We watch and see
Take it all in and peer through the gate
The edge is where we create
A spell, a potion, art, life...
We strive to end the strife
And bring about a world were secrets are brought to light
We are done with the hate
We are done watching from the shadows
We are done with love and light
We stand at the edge and make a plea
Before the Karmic powers that be.
Let those who cause harm face what they've done,
Let justice be measured for everyone.
We do not decree what their sentence shall be,
Nor call for revenge to satisfy thee.
Only let the scales be balanced and true,
Let the pain they have caused return in due.
We are witches at the edge of the world,
Tired of the horrors we have seen unfurled.
Motivated, determined, disgusted, and pissed,
We rise with our power, our purpose, our fist.
Ready to step from the edge and create,
A future we choose, a future we shape.
Ready to step from the edge and create, A future we choose, a future we shape.
The wind whispers to me:
You don’t have to be the wind. You just have to go step by step.
