Missing Witches began as a podcast. It was an excuse for us to do the research we were longing to do, into the ideas we felt deeply missing from our lives.
That podcast birthed a book, and continues to take new shapes thanks to the contributions – material and philosophical – of our community.
Missing Witches is a labour of love, research, and web-weaving. We are dedicated to creating an intersectional, feminist history of ideas; and uncovering feminist and marginalized ideas about what IS and what’s POSSIBLE; and helping to build communities of care with other magical beings.
Missing Witches is co-created by Amy and Risa: Witches, artists, activists, and perpetual students living out in the woods on unceded Anishinabek territory.
Note: In a spirit of reparations, we donate our monthly earnings to the Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal each May, and organize an annual fundraiser and conversation with indigenous thinkers to help unpack some of the appropriation and spiritual bypassing that happens in Witch worlds. Check out the 2021 fundraiser + episode here, and contact us to get involved: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Missing Witches Coven is:
- a witchy, science-loving study group/informal book club working collaboratively to seek and center marginalized ideas and possibilities.
- a place to unmask and to be like little kids together, playing with the magic in the world, celebrating moments of JOY.
- a mutually-supportive space to be honest about how fucked up racism, misogyny, misogynoir, ableism, heteronormativity and capitalism are and to mourn, and also to CACKLE WICKEDLY and HOWL WILDLY together as we seed within ourselves and each other ways to survive, resist, re-enchant and FLOURISH.
If you are thinking about joining us you should know:
We’re so excited for you to join us.
Thank you for every message, every bit of love, every time you challenge us and teach us, and every form of support you have the resources for. We love you forever.
