During 2020, I was scared - we all were - so I took my fears and faith and planted them with three tiny plum tree saplings. Just little rooted twigs. I did this knowing that it would be years before I would know if they’d root and grow, if they'd ever bear fruit. The act of planting and continuing care has taught me about patience and a slow revolution, counteracting the capitalist lie of immediacy, urgency and scarcity.
Last year, one of my plum trees bloomed for the first time - the promise of future fruit. The other two have yet to bloom. They are doing their own thing in their own time. It’s not my job to make demands of them. It’s my job to nurture them and to pray that our relationship will be reciprocal.
Last week, I spotted by first plum-to-be.

Given time, things grow.
Like Elaine Kicknosway (from this week's episode) and friends who gathered some Sixties Scoop Survivors for a night of karaoke, an event which led to the formation of the Sixties Scoop Network.
Like us who made a small gesture of solidarity, which five years later has become a Coven-wide movement.
Given time, small things grow, so let's try patience and a trust in divine timing. Let's slow down and give ourselves time to root before we flower, flower before we before we fruit, drinking in the rain and sun.
Given time, things grow.
