We’ve crossed the threshold between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox, and mid‑February carries its own pulse. Lupercalia ran through the streets of Rome, a wolf‑wild rite of community, desire, and survival. A saint named Valentine quietly sanctified love that dared to defy empire.
Today we published a piece about the pagan roots of Valentine's Day - how witches can draw on it's layered history to honour this time as a moment to connect with a love that lives like an underground river beneath the paper card games of empire. Kin, chosen family, love like the way Earth loves us, massive, holding us close.
February 1 also opens Black History Month. Taken together, these observances refuse amnesia. They ask: how do we listen, what do we feel for in the dark? What could we study in order to move differently?
In this year’s Imbolc episode, we gathered with Lilith Dorsey, Loli Moon, Christena Cleveland, Zoe Flowers, OlaOmi Amoloku, Lindsay Braynen, and Caress Fitch.
Guided by Nina Simone’s I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free, we asked:
How would it feel to be free?
The answers weren't abstract. For these Witches, freedom means to be undiluted, uncommodified, unobjectified and unapologetic.
Freedom as integrity.
Freedom as refusal.
Freedom as practice.
Imbolc teaches that enlightenment isn't passive. It's a vow. Black History Month reminds us that freedom isn't decorative. It's defended, defined, and enacted in community.
Reflection — What Does Your Fire Serve?
This week we are entering a New Moon in Aquarius at the threshold of the Lunar New Year — shedding the skin of the old cycle and stepping into the ignition of the Fire Horse.
Aquarius is collective air. Systems. The field between us.
The Fire Horse is propulsion. Heat. Momentum.
Imbolc asked us to learn.
Our guests asked us to define freedom materially.
This lunation asks: What will you set in motion?
Not performatively. Not aesthetically.
But in terms of resource flow. Time. Money. Attention. Protection. Study.
If freedom means undiluted — where are you still diluting yourself to be digestible?
If freedom means uncommodified — where are you confusing visibility with liberation?
If freedom means unapologetic — what are you still apologizing for that is actually your gift?
The Fire Horse does not move timidly. But Aquarius reminds us that momentum without conscience is just spectacle.
This is not a month for spectacle.
It's time for alignment. Let's get in formation, find our herd, run with a pack.
Prescription — Follow the Fire
- Light a candle for what you are willing to learn.
Not what you already agree with. Not what flatters you. What stretches you. - Move one resource toward justice.
Money. Labour. Platform. Amplification. A booked reading. A shared link. A public stand. - Clear one surface in your home before the New Moon.
Begin as you mean to go on. Even one counter wiped with intention says: I'm making space. - Ask yourself in ritual:
If I followed the fire in me, I would…
Then write without censoring. - Choose convergence over performance.
Weather builds through pressure systems. Not branding.
Let your magic redistribute something real.
Invitation — New Moon in Aquarius • Lunar New Year Circle
Wednesday, February 18 • 8:00–9:30 PM EST (Full Coven)
This New Moon in Aquarius arrives at the threshold of the Lunar New Year, as we shed the wisdom-skin of the Snake and welcome the fierce forward motion of the Fire Horse. This is a moment of circulation, ignition, and collective breath — a turning of the wheel that asks us to begin as we mean to go on.
We gather for ritual, sound, and co-created high magic, breathing new air through our homes, our bodies, and our shared field.
All New Moon Circles are recorded as audio only and shared within the coven.
Come as you are. You are always on time.
🌱 Plantkin: The Plants We Love
Sunday, February 15 • 5:00–7:00 PM EST
Hosted by Jasmin
It’s the season of love, hearth-warming, and Imbolc magic — the perfect moment to gather around the green and growing.
Come share the plants that make your heart sing: a tree you visit for grounding, a flower that sparks passion, a succulent that always brings you joy. Together, we’ll open the Plantkin circle for February, celebrating the connection between care, attention, and plant love.
All access needs are welcome — your magic radiates outward, and our collective love makes the world a little brighter.
This circle will be recorded and shared with the coven. Come as you are. So mote it be.
🔊 Witchcraft 101-11: Sonic Witchcraft
Monday, February 16 • 7:30–8:30 PM EST
Hosted by Amy T.
From the Big Bang to Big Band Jazz, from harmonic frequencies to the wildest noise, sound is a tool, a conduit, and a spell.
In this session, we’ll explore:
- Music as magic — backup or lead singer in our workings
- Harmony, vibration, and frequency as instruments of intention
- Sound beyond music — the hidden signals, the textures, the wild sonic landscapes
After a brief introduction, the floor opens for questions, discussion, and shared practice. There’s no such thing as a stupid question here. Whether you’re Sonic Fluent or brand-new to magical sound, your curiosity and insight are welcome.
This session will be recorded and uploaded for later listening. If you can’t attend live, drop your questions in the comments so we can weave them into the circle.
Bring your ears, your curiosity, and a readiness to make joyful noise unto Noise itself.

Solidarity in Practice — Tarot-Thon for Immigrant Justice
One clear way to move resource this week:
A coven mate is participating in the Tarot-Thon for Immigrant Justice, organized by Golden Dome.
All proceeds support:
- Al Otro Lado
- Black Immigrants Bail Fund
- Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee
- Queer Immigrant Justice Project
This is what it looks like when divination becomes material support.
Book a reading. Share the offering. Send breath behind it.
Let the Fire Horse carry something concrete.
Hey everyone— I’m really excited and nervous to share that I’m participating in a tarot-thon to raise funds for groups providing legal, financial, housing, and other types of supports for immigrants and folks impacted by anti-immigrant violence.
My website is new and this is essentially the launch. I’ve been reading tarot for a while but this is my first foray into being this organized and intentional to expand my scope. I’d love any support you can send my way, whether you’re up for booking (100% of the cost goes directly to the orgs listed!!) or sharing this flyer or sending out a little bit of magic this way 🕯️🙏🦋

Closing Blessing
May the air clear where it must.
May what you ignite this week move resource, not just emotion.
Light the candle.
Move the money.
Open the window.
Follow the fire.
